Web Accessibility Solutions Reviews

Guide, Comparison and Advices
Web accessibility solutions are resolutions that help organizations and businesses fix their digital assets in order to ensure they are accessible to people with various types of disabilities. These web accessibility solutions ensure websites meet accessibility compliance standards such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508, and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), EN 301 549 among others. For organizations and businesses, web accessibility should no longer be optional. Web content (websites, mobile applications, multimedia, PDFs) must be accessible to everyone, including the 1.5 billion people globally living with disabilities without discriminating amongst disabilities! Why?  While there are many answers, the most important ones will be that you avoid the risk of a lawsuit (such as the ADA) and potential damage to brand reputation.

What Web Accessibility Solutions Offer?

Web accessibility solutions offer varying services. From testing, auditing, website or mobile app remediation, PDF or document remediation, training, certification, etc.  Some solutions provide pricing on their website while others do not (especially manual solutions) so you’d want to take the time to plot exactly your organization’s digital accessibility needs. Many of these solutions providers also offer reseller accessibility services for web designers and developers, which lets you go into business for yourself, offering digital access to your own customers without requiring you to spin up your own solution.

Types of Web Accessibility Solution

You should also familiarize yourself with the web accessibility tiers that are available.
Web accessibility solution basically takes three formats; automated, manual solutions, and hybrid (offer both manual and automated accessibility solutions).
Each tier offers different operations and features, I’ll break them down. Manual accessibility solution involves automated, manual testings and audit scans using various web accessibility tools, provision of an expert report on your level of  WCAG conformance, recommendation on how to remediate, total remediation and user testing to bring your website to a minimum of WCAG 2.0 Level AA conformance. Automated accessibility solution also performs automated scans, using a distinctive automated solution that employs artificial intelligence to ensure any website is accessible even to assistive technology users and remain compliant. The automated solution provides an automated suite to your website, a toolbar that provides the front-end accessibility options which users can use to customize their web experience (modify fonts, change contrast, skip links, etc.). One thing though, a website will only be as accessible as its accessibility suite allows it to be.

Web Accessibility Integration

Because web accessibility is a commitment, it is not just enough to have an accessible website and be complaint to standard regulations, it is equally important to integrate accessibility procedures through ongoing compliance monitoring. In most cases, both manual and automated solutions provide this, in addition to training to ensure your organization is self-sufficient in its accessibility commitment.

Summary

Now, where automated accessibility solutions provide compliance within days but can’t necessarily guarantee full compliance with regulations, manual solutions, although usually costly when properly done can guarantee full compliance but they take a long time to get done. A combination of these solutions provides a middle ground and a desirable option since a significant accessibility solution is still impossible without manual input. They provide compliance within a few duration and completely shield you against a potential lawsuit. To qualify for inclusion in the Website Accessibility category, a product must offer:
  • ADA, Section 508, WCAG 2.0 compliance
  • Provide compliance reporting features
  • Contain continuous compliance monitoring features
  • Accessibility statement
Equalweb, Criterion 508, AudioEye, HikeOrders, Interactive Accessibility, Online ADA, BoIA are recommendable options.
